- Climate change will cause fundamental problems to the sustenance of the natural ecosystem as a whole.
- International trade is a contributing source in the measure of carbon emissions, from supply chain to logistics. Clean energy and green transportation are vital in the roadmap to carbon neutrality.
- Digitalisation and electrification are technological solutions with new challenges, i.e. energy consumption of data centres and electronic waste.
- Food security is a concern for nations with limited agricultural land.
- Important to safeguard scarce natural resources such as water resources.
- Social cohesiveness is largely dependent on the prosperity of businesses and the stability of the economy.
CRITERIA for ‘Lead’ Track
Organisations with existing ESG frameworks and sustainability best practices that lead by example, meeting one or more of the criteria below are eligible to participate in the ‘Lead’ Track of the programme without participating in Phase 2 of the ‘Learn’ Track.
- Adoption of digital and smart technology to reduce carbon footprint.
- Transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
- Participation in social welfare initiatives in the local and / or international community.
- Investment in companies that innovate with processes, products or solutions for environmental or societal good.
- Conservation of natural resources and through sustainable development.
CONSULTATION FRAMEWORK for 'Learn' Track
Phase 1
Obtain key information relating to market expansion considering main
aspects of rules and regulations relating to the environmental, social and
governance frameworks from the relevant government agencies, such as:
- Trade and financial incentives for green economy industries and ESG
- Capital requirements, market access, banking systems, legal framework, systemic regulation, consumer protection and data privacy
- Government subsidies and regulations for liberalization of industry sectors
- Renewables subsidies and carbon-emissions regulation
- Resource planning, royalty taxes, land use regulations
- Environmental and wildlife protection and conservation rules
- Other sustainability practices
- Learn how to calculate carbon emissions (scope 1 and scope 2)
Phase 2
A series of seminars / workshops to embark on a sustainability roadmap:
- Fundamentals of Sustainability
- Design Thinking and Human-Centered Innovation for Sustainability
- Energy Efficiency and Technologies for Businesses
- Renewable Energy Certificates
- Sustainable Financing and Grants
- Corporate Social Responsibility: Volunteerism and Philanthropy
- ESG Reporting
- Reducing Waste through Sustainable Packaging
- Waste Management including Electronic Waste Recycling
